Porsche’s flagship the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is officially launched in India today. The second generation of Porsches’ s iconic sports car has made its way to India and is priced at Rs. 3.88 crores. This is the most powerful road legal 911 ever.
Having first debuted at 2017 Goodwill Festival of Speed, the most anticipated sports car from Porsche has finally arrived on Indian roads. Even though this car is road legal, it has been developed with the track in mind. The 911 GT2 RS is one of the fastest road legal track machines in the world. This is also Porsche’s most expensive car in its line up. The 3.88 crore price tag is only indicative and can vary massively looking at the extensive list of customization options it comes with. Porsche has allocated multiple units of the car to India even though only a handful of units will be manufactured, which also makes the GT2 RS exclusive to own.
The car is powered by a 3.8-litre 6-cylinder aluminium boxer engine with VTG twin turbochargers. It produces 700hp (@ 7000rpm) and 750 Nm torque (@ 2500-4500rpm). This powerful engine is mated to a 7-speed twin clutch transmission. Porsche claims a top speed of 340kmph and a 0-100kmph in 2.8 seconds. The official time around Nurburgring is 6 minutes 47.3 seconds making it the fastest production car around the circuit.
Porsche has also managed to reduce the weight by a significant margin. The GT2 RS now weighs 1,470 kilograms (unladen). The weight can be further cut down by 30 kilograms by opting for carbon fiber roof and magnesium alloys (Weissach package).
700hp powering only two rear wheels is a ridiculous amount of power and so the car also needs a very good braking system. Braking is handled by 410mm (front) and 390mm (rear) carbon ceramic brakes which are offered as standard. A lot of work has gone into the chassis. It offers a front-axle lift system. Ride height, camber, toe angle can be adjusted to the driver’s requirement for a comfortable track experience.
Not only is the car fast but is also plenty comfortable and luxurious. It comes with comfortable bucket seats which offer maximum support. The clubsport package also comes with a roll cage behind the front seats and also a 6-point seatbelt for the driver for added safety. An optional BOSE surround sound system is also offered which is specially tuned for the 911 models. It comes with 12 speakers and amplifier channels and a 100-watt subwoofer. Porsche connect entertainment system comes with a high-resolution 7-inch touchscreen display. Porsche communication management system offers features like online navigation, voice control, and Apple CarPlay. The ‘Porsche Track Precision App’ allows the driver to record, display and analyze various driving statistics using a smartphone.
