The all-new 2020 Renault Kwid makes an appearance under heavy camouflage. It gets a completely revamped design and also new features. Even under the camouflage, we can make out the car is inspired by the Kwid K-ZE in the international market.
We can also see that the new 2020 Renault Kwid follows the recent trend of placing the DRL above and the main headlights much below on the bumpers. Comparing this to the all-electric Kwid K-ZE unveiled in Shangai, they look the same. But it is unlikely that Renault will venture into fully electric cars for the Indian market yet. So this is more likely the facelift version of the normal Kwid. Also, the front grille on the test car shows that it is most probably not the electric variant.
The interiors may also be borrowed from the Kwid K-ZE. This means it may get a slightly revamped interior with a new instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system in the higher end models.
The engines will get small updates to make it BS6 ready and hence, futureproof. But they will still be of the same capacity – 800cc and 1.0 liter. The power outputs will also be very close to the current ones – 53 bhp and 67 bhp respectively.
The car was seen on the Bangalore- Pune highway. This probably means that the car is being used for ARAI regulatory tests. Renault sales are continuously on a decrease in India. The company has big plans in the future to fix this issue.
