Renault India has started the testing of upcoming Duster in India. For the first time, the 2020 Duster has been spotted testing in India under heavy camouflage.
The new Duster will get BS-VI compliant engines and features to meet the upcoming pedestrian protection safety regulations that will start from 1st April 2020. Other safety regulations such as speed warning sensors, rear parking sensors and passenger seat belt alert will also most probably be standard.
The exterior design of the car remains mainly unchanged. Thought the front bumper seems to be redesigned, a different design for the LED DRLs, and a redesigned bonnet to minimize the damage if the car hits a pedestrian. Renault can also offer a sunroof on the top spec variant, the spy pics also show a redesigned roof rails. The infotainment system can also be upgraded with a new touchscreen. Other things to change can be a new design for Alloy wheels. Interior quality can be improved by using better materials.
The new Renault Duster will continue with the same K9K 1.5-litre diesel engine. Though report claims that the lower 85PS variant will be dropped off. The 110PS variant will be on offer with the 6-speed manual and AMT for the diesel version. Also, the same H4K 1.5-litre petrol motor with 106PS is also expected to continue doing its duties, it will be offered with 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic gearbox.
Though Europe has already got the second-generation Duster, we don’t think it will come to India anytime soon. When launched Duster will compete with the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks.
