The all-new 2020 Mahindra Thar will be launching in less than a month. While enthusiasts and prospective buyers are waiting for this off-road built car, a new video on the internet shows the Thar easily surviving a big jump.
The video shot in slow motion shows the all-new 2020 Mahindra Thar roll towards a very steep ramp and also take off of it. The car hits the ramp quite hard as we can hear the suspension bottom out and the wheels hit the wheel arches. The driver keeps the momentum which leaves the Thar flying in the air for a few moments before reaching the ground back. The landing turned out to be a bit on the rougher side as the car tipped sideways mid-air. It astonishingly still survived the whole ordeal with no damages according to the driver. This speaks to the build quality and off-roading capabilities of the new Thar.
The new Thar is generations ahead of the older models but still retains the classic retro look with the round headlamps, seven-slot grille, and squared tail lamps. But the interior speaks an entirely different story with a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system, roof-mounted speakers, forward-facing rear seats, and 3-point seat belts for all passengers. We also get steering mounted controls, color MID, electrically foldable ORVMs. The interiors are washable too.
Speaking of the Engine & Power train department, Mahindra has done its groundwork. The New Thar is powered by 2 engines – A 2.0 MStallion Petrol engine developing 150 bhp & 320 Nm. The other one is a 2.2 MHawk Diesel that develops a 130 bhp & 320 Nm. The most notable thing is that, right from the start, we will have the 6-Speed Automatic gearbox in addition to the 6-Speed manual. The 4X4 system will be standard across variants with a manual transfer case.
