2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport Launched At Rs 57.06 Lakh

Land Rover India has launched the updated variant of the Discovery Sport today. It now gets two new BS6 compliant engines and various other changes. Starting at Rs 57.06 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) let’s see what all has changed in the new British SUV?

First of all the platform is new, it gets the Evoque Transverse Architecture. The platform is also ready to take an electric powertrain and is future-ready. Along with that the new platform gets better NVH levels and is all along stronger than before. Dimensions of the new Discovery Sport are – 4,600mm length, 2,173mm width and 1,724mm height. The wheelbase is 2,741mm and it has 600mm of wading depth. For those offroad ventures, it has a 25-degree approach angle and 30.2-degree departure angle (For Sport S).

There are two variants of the Discovery Sport on offer – S and an R-Dynamic SE. The changes at the front include new headlights, new bumper design, coming to the rear the taillight has been given a new look with different LED treatment. The interior gets subtle changes such as bigger AC dials, a 10-inch touchscreen unit and capacitive button on the steering wheel. The S variant gets the 6-speaker system and the R-Line SE gets 10 speaker Meridian 380W system. Other features include 12‑way electric memory front seats with 2‑way manual headrests, panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate and wireless charging.

Talking about the new BS6 engines. It gets a 2.0-litre P250 MHEV petrol motor which makes 245hp and 365Nm of torque. It takes 7.8 seconds to reach 100kmph and a top speed of 221km/hr. There is also a 2L D180 Diesel motor which makes 177hp and 430Nm of torque. It takes 10.1 seconds to hit a tonne and has a top speed of 188km/hr. Both the engines are mated to the fantastic 9-speed automatic gearbox. It also gets All-wheel drive along with the Terrain Response 2. Safety features include ABS, ESC, front and rear parking sensors, 6 airbags and roll stability control.

It competes with Volvo XC60, Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and the Audi Q5. As of now the deliveries of Diesel variant will begin and Petrol will commence later. So the S-variant for the Diesel is priced at 57.06 lakh and the R-Dynamic SE variant is for Rs 60.89 lakh
(ex-showroom, pan-India).
