Kia has revealed its all-new Telluride at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. It was first spotted in New York Fashion Week as an off-roading concept. Similar to the Hyundai Palisade, Telluride is a bold eight-seater SUV concept with many mindblowing features. The design is based on an American concept which is specially manufactured for production in the US.
The first made in the US Kia car is created by Kia’s studio in California and manufactured in Georgia. The mid-size SUV looks bold with a large hood and chrome finished Tiger Nose grille. The front fascia is outfitted with projector headlights highlighting LED DRLs and turn signals. It gets an elevated windshield and company’s badge at the front grille and also on the rear tailgate. The rear of the car is equipped with new vertical LED tail lights.
The interior of the new Telluride gets Nappa leather seating and wood decoration polished in a metal/ matte shade. Kia has added many technological advancements in its new car. The interior front is integrated with a latest 10.25 Kia UVO touchscreen which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets wireless phone charging, six USB ports, stereo from Harman/Kardon, and multi-Bluetooth connectivity for up to two devices at once. It features keyless-entry, navigation support, and remote startup climate control.
Some other highlights of the cabin are heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, ventilated seats, third-row seats recline, and tri-zone climate control. It sits on 20-inch five triple-spoke dark alloys encased with Michelin Primacy Tour all-season tyres. It comes with many high-end safety features including collision warning, avoidance assist, pedestrian detection, high beam assist, lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring and collision avoidance, seven airbags, driver attention warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a surround-view monitor, and highway driving assist.
Moreover, the Telluride comes with four driving modes: Smart, Eco, Sport and Comfort. It is powered by an Atkinson Cycle 3.8 litre V6 GDI motor which is capable of generating 291 hp of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 355 Nm of torque at 5,200 rpm. The engine is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Kia Telluride will rival against the likes of Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Explorer. The prices are expected to be revealed in May 2019, at the launch.
