Ford has unveiled the all new 2020 Kuga SUV at an event in Amsterdam. The 2020 Ford Kuga SUV is developed based on the American company’s new global C2 architecture. The new Kuga SUV is spacious and comes with new exterior design and the cabin comes loaded with a host of features. Besides that the 2020 Ford Kuga SUV measures 89 mm longer as well as 44 mm wider. The wheelbase of the SUV has increased by 20 mm, measuring 2,710 mm. The third generation Kuga will be available in Plug In hybrid, EcoBlue mild hybrid, Kuga full hybrids, Ford’s 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel, 1.5 litre EcoBlue diesel and 1.5 litre EcoBoost petrol engines.

On the interior, the third gen Kuga comes with a Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8 inch central touchscreen, a new industry first 12.3 inch LCD instrument cluster and B and O sound system. The American manufacturer, Ford has provided the new SUV with various comfort and driver assistance features like the FordPass Connect embedded modem and wireless charging pad technologies. Besides that the all new Kuga comes equipped with new Stop and Go, Speed sign recognition, sign based light, head up display, prediction curve light and active park assist 2. The active park assist enables fully automated parking operation at the push of a button.

The Kuga’s 2.5 litre plug in hybrid powertrain is a combination of an Atkinson cycle petrol engine, an electric motor and a 14.4 kWh lithium ion battery, all together delivering a power of 225 PS. The Kuga PHEV is claimed to return 1.2 L / 100 km and emit only 29 g of CO2. The EcoBlue diesel motor that gets a 48 volt mild hybrid tech makes a power of 148 bhp. The 2.0 litre diesel motor churns out a power of 188 bhp while the 1.5 litre diesel unit delivers a power of 118 bhp. The 1.5 litre EcoBoost petrol motor will be available in two power output options – 118 bhp and 148 bhp. The six speed manual transmission will be offered as standard while a eight speed automatic transmission will be offered with the 1.5 litre and 2.0 litre engines at the time of launch.
