Recently Yamaha introduced special Monster Energy MotoGP Edition for various bikes and scooters from their lineup in Indonesia. What caught our eye was the Yamaha R15 V3.0 in MotoGP edition. As it is the only bike relevant to get the special edition in India within a couple of months.
The MotoGP edition gets a black paint job along with blue color on the tank and the fairing. There are various stickers on the bike from the sponsors, which include Monster Energy stickers, Eneos and Yamalube. The bike livery is inspired from liveries of Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi. Yamaha also introduced a MotoGP limited edition, last year in India.
Apart from the visual changes, the rest of the bike remains the same. The bike in Indonesian markets get Upside down forks (USD) at the front, but the Indian version will still get conventional telescopic forks. LED headlights as well as LED tail lamp, an instrument cluster is an all-digital unit. The bike gets a split seat setup, aluminum swingarm, and a slipper clutch.
The engine unit remains the same with the same power figures. It is a 154.9cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, SOHC engine which makes the power of 19.30PS at 10,000rpm and torque of 15Nm at 8,500rpm mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Recently Yamaha also offered Dual Channel ABS unit.
Similar to the MotoGP edition last year, the R15 could demand a bit of a premium over the regular variant. R15 competes with Pulsar RS200 and newly launched Hero Xtreme 200S.
