2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR Improved From Its Older Variant

The 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR is all set to be launched on January 23, 2019. The new generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR will come with new design, a new powertrain, completely modified interiors and larger dimensions. The 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR will be different from the new generation model which is on sale in Japan.

The India spec Maruti Suzuki WagonR measures 3,655 mm in length, 1,620 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height, thereby making the new gen WagonR 19 mm longer, 145 mm wider and 5 mm taller than the India based old WagonR.

The increased dimensions of the new generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR has contributed to more spacious cabin and more luggage room in the boot space. Besides that the 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR is developed based on the Heartect platform, which further adds to the cabin space. The interior of the new generation WagonR will also some modifications including better safety features, improved passenger and driver comfort features.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd will provide the new generation WagonR with better tyres constituting more rubber which measures 13 inches and 14 inches on the LXi and other variants respectively. The tyre size on the new WagonR is 155/80 R13 while the older variant got 145/80 R13 tyres. The V and Z variants of the New WagonR will receive 165/70 R14 tyres. The wheelbase of the new WagnoR measures 2,400 mm. The kerb weight of the new 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR stands in between 805 kg – 845 kg while the old WagnoR had a kerb weight in between 870 kg – 965 kg. Therefore, the new WagonR will see a reduction in weight.

The 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR will be powered by a new 1.2 litre engine which was seen on the Maruti Swift and the Ignis but not seen on the old WagonR.

This engine churns out a power of 83 Ps and produces a peak torque of 113 Nm. The 1.0 litre petrol engine powering the old wagonR will also make its way into the new WagonR, making a power of 68 PS and producing a peak torque of 90 nm. The transmission includes both manual and AMT on both the engines. The new WagonR will have fuel tank capacity of 32 litres, which is 3 litres less than the fuel tank capacity of the older variant.
