Kawasaki India has officially launched the new iteration to its liter-class sports tourer, the 2019 Kawasaki Ninja 1000. This update brings minor cosmetic changes over the outgoing model. It now comes in two colors of black and green with new decals and graphics.
The engine configuration is retained from the previous model. It comes with a 1043cc In-line four engine which is liquid cooled. The engine pumps out 142ps (@10000 RPM) and 111Nm torque (@11000 RPM).
Ninja 1000 also gets Kawasaki Cornering Management Function, Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) with three modes, two power modes and Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-Lock Brake System (KIBS). The low profile dual headlamps and chin spoilers seem to be inspired by the Kawasaki ZX-10R.
The Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is the first high displacement motorcycle from the Japanese giant to be assembled in India. It is brought to India in Semi-Knocked Down kits (SKD) and is assembled at a plant in Chakan.
The motorcycle comes with a highly rigid aluminium frame which features a high degree of mass centralization, ensuring a balance of sharp turning and firm handling. The frame is a 5-piece cast aluminium construction, consisting of steering stem, left and right main frames, and two cross pieces. The Ninja 1000’s relaxed riding position is designed to ensure smooth city rides as well as touring. Raised clip-on handlebars contribute to the sporty, comfortable riding position. It weighs in at a hefty 239 Kilograms. It also gets a 19-liter fuel tank.
Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors, said, “We are glad to inform all our stakeholders that MY19 Ninja 1000 is being launched in India on the same day when it is getting launched in other countries. We always have seen a positive response to Ninja 1000 in the India market because it offers everyday comfort and enhanced touring performance.”
Bookings are now open at Kawasaki dealerships across India for the 2019 Ninja 1000, priced at ₹999,000. It is currently available in two colors, black and green.
