Bajaj Auto has updated the Dominar and this time it is more than cosmetic. The 2019 Dominar 400 is now on sale at INR 1.73 Lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The changes include USD forks, a revised instrument cluster, and a new double barrel exhaust. While the engine is the same 373 CC, liquid cooled motor, the power output has gone up by a decent 3.9 BHP. The output now stands at 39,9 BHP.
This is possible because of a major engine update. Bajaj has moved to a DOHC setup with the 2019 Dominar as opposed to the SOHC setup on the outgoing model. As a result of this setup, the engine is a lot smoother, in addition to increased power output.
Couple this setup with a new double barrel exhaust. What you get is a bassy, throaty and distinctive exhaust note. The exhaust now wears a matt finish. Now, add a 43mm Upside Down Forks to the setup. What you get is a confidence inspiring handling and braking. Overall, these updates make the 2019 Dominar a sweet and VFM package at the price point. At 1.73 Lakhs it effectively undercuts the competition., the Apache RR 310 and BMW G310 R.
All these changes have increased the kerb weight by 2.5 Kgs. The Dominar now weighs in at 184.5 kgs.
The rear view mirrors now sit on new stalks that are wide and more effective. The instrument cluster is a dual screen like the old one, but are revised. The instrument cluster now displays gear indicator and average fuel consumption figure, something that comes in handy during those long rides.
The engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch, which makes gear shifting, a smooth affair. The biggest visual change is the addition of a new green color.
