BMW has officially released the second model in the 8 series line up – the 2019 8 series convertible. The 2019 BMW 8 series convertible is the first convertible version of the 8 series. The price of the upcoming BMW 8 series convertible is yet to be announced. The car will be available from March, 2019. The 2019 BMW 8 series convertible will be offered in two variants – the BMW 840d xDrive Convertible and the BMW M850i xDrive Convertible. The upcoming BMW 8 series convertible sports the 8 series logo and a classic soft top roof, which is the main focus. It can be lowered in 15 seconds and at speeds of up to 31 mph. The 8 series will get black finish as standard or Anthracite Silver as a cost option.
On the interior, the 2019 BMW 8 series convertible will be offered in four seat layout with a through loading function and the rear seats have 50:50 split. Besides that the 2019 BMW 8 series convertible comes equipped with the 10.25 inch infotainment system supporting the latest BMW’s 7.0 OS, instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, Bowers and Wilkins sound system, a BMW display key and glass surfaces for the control elements. The 2019 BMW 8 series convertible comes equipped with a Driving Assistant Professional package which includes Active Cruise Control and Stop and Go function, Steering and lane control assistance, Lane Change Warning and Lane Departure Warning, side collision protection, evasion aid, crossing traffic warning, distance information, priority warning and wrong way warning.
The BMW 840d xDrive Convertible will get a six cylinder in line diesel engine which delivers 320 hp and 680 Nm torque. This variant can attain a top speed of 250 kmph and can accelerate from 0 kmph to 100 kmph in just 5.2 seconds. On the other hand the BMW M850i xDrive will be powered by a 4.4 litre V8 unit, which churns out a power of 530 hp and produces a peak torque of 750 Nm. The M859i also can attain a top speed of 250 kmph and can accelerate from 0 kmph to 100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds. Both the models will get an eight speed Steptronic transmission, M suspension, active steering, mixed tyre sizes and BMW xDrive all wheel drive.
