BMW launched the all-new 7th generation 2019 BMW 3 Series in the country today. The new car is locally-produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai, The all-new 3 Series is now available in diesel and petrol variants at all BMW dealerships across India.
2019 BMW 3 series design and features
The new 3 series grows in dimensions due to the CLAR platform it is built on. Other models like the 5 and 7 series also share the same platform. In spite of the bigger dimensions, the new Beemer is 55kgs lighter than the previous generation. It is now 4,709mm in length, 1,827mm in width and 1,442 mm in height. It also has a 2,851mm long wheelbase.
The exterior of the new car is dominated by the signature BMW kidney grille. We can also see new LED headlights and L-shaped DRLs. It also gets a new bumper design. The rear of the Sedan gets two large tailpipes a distinctive spoiler for the sporty appeal. BMW also boasts of Best-in-class optimized aerodynamics have reduced the car’s drag coefficient to 0.23.
The interior is more spacious thanks to the longer wheelbase. However, the attention goes to the large 8.8” floating infotainment system with iDrive that can be upgraded to a 10.25” unit. We also see a 40:20:40 split rear seat for greater flexibility. BMW also includes new Sport Seats with electrical memory function offer greater long-distance comfort for the driver and front passenger. Other features include automatic air-con with three-zone control, ambient lighting with six dimmable designs, and a welcome light carpet. There is no compromise on safety either, we get a rear camera, auto brake, reversing assist, lane departure warning, collision and pedestrian warning with city braking function, etc. We also get a BMW Live Cockpit Professional running on the latest BMW Operating System 7.0 includes 3D Navigation, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display behind the steering wheel and a 10.25-inch Control Display.
The new 2019 BMW 3 series gets a 2.0-liter engine in both petrol and diesel options. The 330i with its petrol motor produces 258 hp and maximum torque of 400 Nm at 1,550 – 4,400 rpm. This can push the car from 0-100kmph in just 5.8 seconds. The two-liter four-cylinder diesel engine of the BMW BMW 320d produces an output of 190 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 1,750 – 2,500 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 -100kmph in just 6.8 seconds. Both the engines use an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.
BMW is offering the new 2019 3 series in three variants. 320d Sport (Rs 41.4 lakh), 320d Luxury Line (Rs 46.9 lakh) and the 320i M Sport (Rs 47.0 lakh).
