The Bajaj Dominar was introduced back in 2016 at a price tag of Rs 1.36 lakh. With the launch of the Dominar, Bajaj had aimed at selling 10,000 units of it every month. But sadly, Bajaj could retail an average of only 2000 units of it every month and even 1000 units some months. Therefore, Bajaj is now going to introduce the upgraded version of the Dominar 400 in India to boost the sales. The 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 was recently spotted testing in Leh. This bike borrows the upside down forks from the KTM Duke 390. Besides that the 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 now comes will a new digital console displaying more information than before and a new exhaust system with twin canister.
The 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 is likely to borrow several features from the Duke 390 in order to improve the sport riding capabilities of the bike substantially. These features include the DOHC system, updated slipper clutch and ride by wire. The Bajaj Dominar, introduced back in 2016 was a touring motorcycle. However, it was provided with all modern day equipments like the digital instrument cluster, ABS and FI. Bajaj had introduced the Dominar in order to eat into the Royal Enfield sales, which accounts for 90 percent market share in 350 cc to 500 cc motorcycles with its Dominar. Bajaj aimed at gaining 20 percent of this with the Dominar. But unfortunately this model could keep up to the expectations of the auto maker.
The 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 is scheduled to arrive in India before the onset of Diwali. The 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 will be priced at Rs 15000 to Rs 20000 higher than the current ABS variant. Therefore, the motorcycle is expected to be priced at about Rs 1.8 lakhs [ex showroom]. At this price range, the 2019 Dominar 400 is quite cheaper than its rivals. Powering the upcoming Bajaj Dominar 400 is the same engine powering the KTM 390 Duke. The 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by the liquid cooled, single cylinder 373.3 cc engine, ready for BS6 norms tuned to deliver 35 PS power at 8000 rpm and 35 Nm torque at 6500 rpm. A six speed gearbox gets matted to the engine. Once launched the 2019 Dominar 400 will compete with the BMW G310R, which carries double the price of the upcoming Dominar.
