Maruti Suzuki Swift 3rd generation is all set to be launched in India ahead of Auto Expo 2018 on 7th of February 2018. However, the all new 3rd Gen Swift is already available in Japan market since January 2017. The car was first launched way back in 2005 and since then it has gain lot of popularity in India as well in foreign lands and has been best selling car in India, featuring in top 5 selling cars in Indian Market. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki Swift holds a huge market share with around 1.7 million Swift Hatch just in India and around 5.8 million globally.

The 1st Gen to 2nd Gen had a lot of update however the 2nd to 3rd Generation is leap revolutionary as the car has now been based on Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform (also shared by Ignis, Dzire & Baleno) which has reduced 85 kgs compared to its 2nd Gen successor, thus it also improved its power to weight ratio. The dimensions have changed figures too. The breadth has been increased by 40mm and length is reduced by 10mm and the wheel base has been increased by 20mm which makes it wider and enhances center of gravity of the vehicle. Maruti Suzuki has been portraying the car has ‘Hot Hatch’ which has also helped the car to keep its popularity up since its launch. The bookings are open for the new swift at Maruti Dealer with just a nominal payment of 11,000. The current Maruti dealer are also to be re-branded as Maruti Suzuki Arena to make the ownership process a bit classier and sophisticated.

Exterior
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift carries the traditional Swift proportion from its successors. The front is same as Dzire the grill which misses the chrome in the side looks similar to Jaguar F-Type. Floating like roof is also identical, wrap with black theme windows which gives it pretty decent sporty look. The rear doors handles are integrated in the C-Pillar which is new to Maruti Suzuki but these designed doors are already available in the market with KUV1oo and Beat. The Swift gets all new DRLs and projector headlamps. The rear lights features C like LED lights which looks premium and makes a strong presence. In the rear you will miss the badging of Maruti Suzuki and variant information like we had earlier 2nd Gen swift and will only feature “Swift” badging. Swift is offered in Midnight Blue, Fire Red, Arctic White, Silky Silver, Magma Grey & the latest addition, the Prime Lucent Orange.

Interiors
Well, the Interiors too is identical to the Dzire but with a twist of all black interior. Once you are in the cock-pit you can distinct with its successor. It has all new flat bottom steering wheel with lots of goodies which gives sporty feel. Also the instrument cluster is very understandable and neat while you drive the car. The car is been now offered with companies favorite central SmartPlay touch infotainment system in top variant, which is also available with Ciaz, Ignis and Dzire. The infotainment system has various connectivity option through Android Auto, Apple Car Play, Mirror link, Bluetooth, FM, AUX and this seems to be enough for a car, isn’t it ? Additionally, it also has the reverse parking display integrated into it. Now, this car has something more than you expect. It also has climate control knobs that have inbuilt LCD screens that shows the temperature and this is really something new in this segment. The A/C vents are also nicely integrated, you have two rectangular side vents, one in each side and two central round vents which looks really sporty and also the quality of the plastic is also improved than earlier.

The seats are well cushioned and airy. The driver seat can be adjusted by height in the variant. Though it has ergonomics but its lacks in good thigh support. Which is again ignorable with so much goodies…. The rear seats are also comfortable and has increased legroom along with additional headroom of around 34mm. The seats have more space and airy. Thanks to its increased wheelbase which has also increased the boot space by 58 litres, this makes an increase of 28% compared to its 2nd Gen successor.
Safety
Safety has been always in question until 2nd Gen Swift and this has been nicely taken care off this time. The Car is offered with Dual Air Bag which is standard across variants and has ABS with EBD as per variants. The new swift also features Seat belt Pretensioner, ISOFIX and complies with All Indian Safety regulations along with the upcoming Pedestrian Safety norms. Also, you must know that this time the New Swift has better rating in NCAP with 4 stars.

Engine Specification
The car currently offered with 2 engine option, both borrowed from the 2nd Gen Swift which is K12 VVT 1.2-liter petrol churns out 84hp & 115Nm of torque, whereas the DDiS 190 1.3-liter diesel unit produces 75 hp & 190 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to wheels with a 5 speed gearbox which is available in MT & AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) options. However, AMT transmission is only available with VXi/VDi and ZXi/ZDi trims.

The New Maruti Suzuki Swift is no doubt a big success and is most trusted vehicle in India. The New Swift in now generation ahead of its competitors in terms of design, features and has all weather tried and tested engines. This car has all the ability and capabilities to prove itself.
