Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading passenger vehicle maker has launched the 2018 Maruti Alto taxi, the taxi variant of Alto hatchback named as Tour H1 in our country. Although there is no official announcement for the launch of the 2018 Maruti Alto taxi yet it is revealed from leaked brochure. The 2018 Maruti Alto taxi is launched mainly for providing taxi operation to the tire 1 and tire 2 cities. When someone books a cab through mobile app in metro cities, he or she is likely to get a Maruti Suzuki WagonR or Swift Dzire. On the other hand the smaller cars like Alto and Datsun taxi services are common in tire 1 and tire 2 cities.
The leaked brochure of the 2018 Maruti Alto taxi shows several features that are offered with the taxi variant. The Tour H1 gets a power steering and manual air conditioning with heater. An optional safety feature includes the driver side air bag. Besides that the 2018 Maruti Alto taxi will be equipped with manual climate control, front power windows, remote fuel lid, boot opener and manually operated ORVMs.
Maruti Suzuki has not yet disclosed whether the 2018 Maruti Alto taxi, i.e, the Tour H1 will be available in Alto 800 variant or Alto K10 variant. The ex – showroom [Delhi] price of the entry level Maruti Alto 800 is Rs 2.51 lakhs. The ex – showroom [Delhi] price of the Alto K10 starts from Rs 3.3 lakhs. The 2018 Maruti Alto taxi will retail at the same price range but Maruti can charge an extra amount of Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 for a CNG kit. At present the four cars of Maruti Suzuki namely Swift, Celerio, Alto and Eeco with the trademark of ‘Tour’. When Maruti Suzuki unveils the next generation Ertiga in India, Maruti will include the current generation Ertiga with the Tour badge.
The 2018 Maruti Alto taxi is powered to the three cylinder 796 cc petrol engine. The engine churns out a power of 47 bhp and produces a peak torque of 69 Nm. A five speed manual gearbox gets matted to the engine. The CNG variant of Tour H1 is expected to be launched later. This CNG variant of the taxi will produce a lower power of 40 bhp and a peak torque of 60 Nm. The taxi variant of Alto gets a speed governer can attain a maximum speed of 80 km/h with a weight 720 kg.
