Honda Car India has issued a recall for the new generation 2018 Honda Amaze, subcompact sedan. A total of 7,290 units of the Honda Amaze are recalled which had been manufactured between 17th April, 2018 to 24th May, 2018. Honda has announced the recall to fix a potential issue with the electric power steering on the 2018 Honda Amaze. The 2018 Amaze was first unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018. The Honda Amaze was launched in May 2018 and within three months Honda Car India issues a recall.

The Japanese Car maker is making a preventive inspection on the Electric Assist Power Steering. Honda claims that there is a possibility that in some of these cars the driver may feel the steering heavier, while the EPS indicator light comes on. The affected Honda Amaze models were manufactured from 17 April 2018 to 24 May 2018. Honda says that it will voluntary replace the EPS column unit after inspection if required.

The replacement of this EPS column will be carried out by the Honda dealerships across India at no cost of the customers. The recall process will start from 26th July 2018 and customers will be individually contacted by Honda. Honda Cars India have said in a press statement that the new 2018 Amaze would carry out a Product Update of EPS [Electric – Assist Power Steering] Sensor harness.

The customers can also verify if their car is one of the affected 2018 Honda Amaze by submitting the car’s 17 character apha numerical VIN [Vehicle Identification Number] on the microsite that has been created on the company’s official website for India.

The new generation 2018 Honda Amaze was one of the first cars in India to join the sub – four metre club. Moreover it is one of the best selling cars in India because of its new design and premium features. The 2018 Honda Amaze was available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2 litre petrol engine develops a power of 87 bhp and a peak torque of 110 Nm. A five speed manual or CVT gearbox is paired to it. While the 1.5 litre diesel engine churns out a power of 99 bhp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. A six speed manual gearbox is paired to it. The new 2018 Honda Amaze comes with dual airbags and ABS as safety features.
